kron 4 spoke to kevin collins mother over the phone. she shared her thoughts. moments after the police told her about initial search at a home. >> i have been numb that is all i can say. it is hurtful to see them at that age especially my son who was a year older than kevin. he is the same size as kevin was. i can look at him and say that is how can unlooked. >> it all comes up. >> we had a chance be to kevin's brother brian collins. he agreed the entire family is on edge as you may imagine. >> our team coverage continues with kron fourth charles clifford. it takes a look back at how the case progressed over the past three decades. >> kevin collins was born january 4, 1974. his parents had nine children. he

disappeared on february 10, 1984 his family was with an on sutter st. in san francisco's western addition. >> the entire city was swept up in the search for kevin. his picture appeared on billboards across the bay area. the search took a toll on kevin's family. >> i think we are in shock the first two weeks. it is still hard to believe he is gone. >> within weeks the story was picked up nationally. kevin's picture appeared on newsweek magazine. one of the first to be featured on milk cartons. the boy's whereabouts remained a mystery. >> off kevin's parents set up the kevin collins foundation is to continue to look for their son and other missing children. after a decade of searching the family believed kevin would never come home alive. >> yes, i believe kevin is deceased. if he could have
